The middle east is still one of the top destinations of OFWs. One of the countries in the middle east is Saudi Arabia where Filipinos are thriving in various fields.
OFWs can rely to the Philippine Embassy and Consulate General for support especially regarding Consular Services such as helping Filipinos to renew Philippine passport in Saudi Arabia.
For passport applicants the following are general reminders for passport application:

- OFWs going home on final exit visas shall no longer be required to apply for ePassport
- Renew the passport at least 9 months before it expires
- Keep a copy of your passport and iqama
- Keep a copy of the page with your entry visa and entry border code
You can renew the passport in different places and ways. Choose what fits your circumstance and schedule.
Where to Renew Philippine Passport in Saudi Arabia
For OFWs in Saudi Arabia, they can renew Philippine passport in the following government agencies:
- Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Riyadh (NO walk-ins; both requires an online appointment)
- In person
- Consular Outreach Mission
- Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (online appointment is not required)
- In person
- Consular Outreach Mission

Depending on your location, you can either renew the passport in person or through the Consular Outreach Service of the embassy or consulate general.
Steps on How to Renew Philippine Passport in Riyadh
Walk-ins are NOT allowed at Philippine Embassy in Riyadh. The following steps are for those who prefer an in person (with appointment) passport renewal at the embassy:
Step 1: Book an online appointment. Except for the following:
- Those with Final Exit visas or are applying for exit
- New born children (up to one year old)
- Senior citizen 60 years and older
- Those with physical disabilities
- Females who are pregnant (with medical certificate as proof)
- Those who have lost their passports and need a replacement.
Passport applicant is NOT allowed to book more than one appointment. Similarly, parents can book an appointment for each child using the parent’s email address.
Step 2: Check if you receive “confirmation notice” on the email that you provided through the online appointment. The notice also contains the instructions about the passport renewal.
Step 3: Arrive at the embassy 15 to 30 minutes before the appointment schedule. Bring the complete requirements for e-Passport renewal:
- Personal appearance
- Download the application form for passport renewal. You can also get the application form at Window 3 of the Consular Section or at the Information Desk at the Embassy lobby (no photo needed)
- Fee (new passport/passport renewal) = SAR 240.00, pay in cash
- Printed appointment confirmation message
- Current Philippine passport and photocopy of passport information page
Step 4: Check online (every week) if your passport is ready for pick up at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh. The new passport is produced in the Philippines, so it takes 6 to 8 weeks (1.5 to 2 months) before you can check online the passport’s availability.
Step 5: Claim the e-Passport at the Philippine Embassy with the following requirements:
- Original old passport
- Original official receipt
Tip: You can send an email at consular@philembassy-riyadh.org if you haven’t receive the passport 2 months after waiting for 1.5 to 2 months (refer to step 4).

Steps on How to Renew Philippine Passport in Jeddah
The following steps are for those who prefer an in person passport renewal at the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah:
Step 1: Apply in person and bring the complete requirements for e-Passport renewal:
- Download the application form for passport renewal. You can also get the application form at Window 1 of the Consular Section (no photo needed)
- Fee (new passport/passport renewal) = SAR 240.00, pay in cash
- Current Philippine passport and photocopy of passport information page
Step 2: Check online if your passport is ready for pick up at the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah. It takes more or less 45 days before you can claim the passport
Step 3: Claim the e-Passport at the Philippine Consulate General with the following requirements:
- Original old passport
- Original official receipt
Releasing schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
If the new passport will be claimed by a proxy, provide the following:
- Original signed authorization letter. (The passport will NOT be released to the proxy without the letter.)
- Original old passport
- Original official receipt
- Valid ID (original and photocopy) of the authorized person
